"Here, we demonstrated that syntaxin 1A colocalizes with KCNQ2 subunits at hippocampal presynaptic boutons (XREF_FIG), binds to KCNQ2 in both synaptosomal membranes (XREF_FIG) and oocytes (XREF_FIG), and modulates the function of the homomeric KCNQ2 channels expressed in oocytes (XREF_FIG) by slowing the activation rate ~ 2 fold and decreasing the current amplitudes by about 50%; the latter is not due to reduced total expression or cell surface trafficking and stability of the channels (XREF_FIG)."
