"USP14, for instance, has exo‐activity as it removes K48‐linked chains only from the distal end, producing exclusively mono‐ubiquitin moieties [ xref ]; whereas other DUBs including CYLD, USP9X, AMSH‐LP and A30 were shown to possess endo‐activity, cleaving longer ubiquitin chains from their substrates [ xref , xref ]."

"As a member of the JAMM family of DUBs, STAMBPL1 (also known as AMSH‐LP) specifically cleaves K63‐linked polyubiquitin on the substrates and plays a role in the regulation of mesenchymal phenotypes. [ xref , xref ] Consistently, in this study, STAMBPL1 was identified as a potential mesenchymal maintenance regulator in KIRC cells, whose silencing decreased mesenchymal markers level and induced immune response genes expression."

"In these experiments, phagosomal extracts were treated with ubiquitin‐chain specific DUBs such as USP2 (unspecific), vOTU (unspecific), Otulin (specificity: M1/linear), Cezanne (specificity: K11> > K63), Trabid (specificity: K29, K33 > K63) or AMSH‐LP (specificity: K63) (Ritorto et al , xref ; Kristariyanto et al , xref ) and examined for the amount of monoubiquitin generated (Fig xref )."
