reach
"Later, this group found that NEXN-AS1 and NEXN can be significantly induced by the cholesterol-lowering agent atorvastatin, which decreased expression of pyroptosis-related proteins, including NLRP3, caspase-1, GSDMD, IL-1β, and IL-18, in human vascular ECs (HVECs).83 Knockdown of NEXN-AS1 or RNA interference of NEXN abrogates the inhibitory effect of atorvastatin on pyroptosis, indicating the critical regulatory role of NEXN-AS1/NEXN in transferring the anti-pyroptotic signal from atorvastatin to the NLRP3 inflammasome.83
Myocardial I/R injury and myocardial infarction."
reach
"Modern research shows that statins, as analogues of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A inhibitor (HMG-CoA) and typically utilized for their cholesterol-lowering ability, also have pleiotropic effects, including immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory abilities.Wu et al. [170] revealed that atorvastatin, the most researched member of the class, inhibits the NLRP3 inflammasome and the molecules involved in pyroptosis, such as caspase-1 and IL-1 β, by increasing the production of NEXN-antisense RNA1 (AS1) lncRNA and its related gene NEXN [170,171]."
reach
"Atorvastatin has been found to inhibit the activation of the NOD-like receptor family, NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway induced by cholesterol crystals, thereby reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18, which are implicated in NAFLD progression [85]."
