"The prevention of RB inhibition by NaN 3 and histidine suggests that part of the inhibition by RB depended upon 1 O 2 originating on RB molecules activated by light xref shows inhibition of the increase by RB in D 2 O solution and comparison of the activity in water and D 2 O, and the result shows that the activity in D 2 O is approximately half of the activity in H 2 O. This may be because part of this decrease (increase of inhibition by RB) in activity depends upon the long presence (slow disappearance) of 1 O 2 in D 2 O solution, as well as the slightly higher viscosity of D 2 O solution."
